For a decade now, folks have been living and dreaming together on Potter Street in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Sometimes one house, sometimes many houses. Some people have stayed for a long time, others only for a night. It has been a wild ride and we're looking forward to another ten (or ten times ten!) years on Potter Street.
For now though, we're moving out of the 3234 house (the "Motherhouse"), which will undergo some long overdue renovations. Don't worry, most of us will still be on the block... In fact, we will begin functioning more as an "intentional Christian village" than just an "intentional community" house, with multiple houses here in the neighborhood. Community prayer, meals and all sorts of fun are still happening. Food bags and the Gathering store will continue on the first Saturday of each month. And after the renovations we plan to cut the ribbons and open 3234 up again as our Apprenticeship House. The Simple Way office is still in a row house in the neighborhood, and many of us here at TSW live within walking distance of each other and of all the action on Potter Street. We're also creating a beautiful new garden in the ashes of the warehouse fire. So keep all of us in your prayers as we make this transition into the next chapter of our life together. And keep an eye out for ways you can connect with our little village here in Kensington.
If you want to get (or stay) connected with us, look at our calendar. Through the wonder of technology, you can even add it to your own calendar so that you'll get updates right away! |
